Bridgerton: Everything to Remember as Season 3 Begins A happy couple has found their other half.
Dear readers, head to the boutique and pick out your best dresses and tails because the new season of Bridgerton is going to make the aristocracy angry. The first half of the new season will debut on Netflix on May 16, and there’s plenty of drama (plus modern instrumental music) to look forward to.
Now that Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) have found their true love in Seasons 1 and 2, the third season will shift the focus to another couple slowly falling in love. But instead of rewatching the entirety of Season 2 to refresh your memory of what happened in Bridgerton, here’s everything you need to know about all the Bridgerton characters to get ready for Season 3.
A happy couple has found their other half
Season 2 is a version of Pride & Prejudice, with Anthony looking for the perfect woman and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) planning to marry his sister, Edwina (Charithra Chandran). Although Anthony initially pursues Edwina, he falls for Kate, and both deny their attraction until the very end.
A wedding finally takes place off-screen in the closing moments of the season, as Kate and Anthony enjoy their newlywed lives. As for Edwina, the show has hinted that she will be staying for the next engagement season, and Chandran told The Indian Express that she is not joining Season 3 in 2022
Penelope and Eloise’s friendship is in trouble
Female friendships have always been a joy on Bridgerton, and the friendship between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Eloise (Claudia Jessie) is no exception. Unfortunately, the show puts these two to the test in Season 2 as Penelope continues to hide a big secret: She is Lady Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews).
Things come to a head when Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) suspects Eloise is Lady Whistledown and puts pressure on her and the scandal-ridden Bridgertons. Penelope feels the only way to help her friend is to expose Eloise’s secret meetings with printing assistant Theo Sharpe (Calam Lynch) and her increasingly radical ideas about feminism. In doing so, she proves that Eloise cannot be the town gossip, but the letter only infuriates the Bridgertons.
By the time of the Featherington Ball, Eloise has discovered Lady Whistledown’s true identity. Harsh words are exchanged between the close friends, and Eloise is so betrayed that she tells Penelope that she never wants to speak to her again. She then runs away, leaving the future of their friendship in doubt.
