After its Christmas Day 2020 premiere, “Bridgerton” shot to the top of Netflix’s charts, breaking viewership records and leaving many eager to see what happens next for the famous family. And on March 25, more than a year later, fans will finally find out when the “Bridgerton” cast returns to our screens (minus Regé-Jean Page, who will not reprise his role as the Duke of Hastings).

The return of “Bridgerton” season two with Ton will bring viewers back to a world filled with beloved characters, while also introducing new ones. This season, based on the second book in Julia Quinn’s series, “The Viscount Who Loved Me,” will follow the eldest Bridgerton brother, Anthony, as he tries to find a wife.

Women in Regency England used a dance card, a small piece of paper stuck to their wrists, to keep track of who they would be dancing with. To prepare for season two, viewers may need something similar. The Bridgerton family itself, headed by mother Violet (Ruth Gemmell), includes eight siblings named in alphabetical order, not to mention the rest of their social circle in Mayfair, London.

Luke Newton, who plays third son Colin, told TODAY that the cast really does feel like a family after two seasons of filming together. “I know everyone says that, but it really is,” Newton said. “We almost feel protective of each other now.”

Read on for a guide to the cast and characters of ‘Bridgerton’ season two.

Simone Ashley as Kate Sharma
Simone Ashley, of “Sex Education” and “Pokémon Detective Pikachu,” stars in season two as Kate Sharma, Anthony’s love interest. A newcomer to London’s high society, Kate is a strong-willed woman whose main motivation is her sister’s happiness. As a result, all eligible bachelors who want to marry her sister have to go through her first.

“Kate is a smart, stubborn young woman who doesn’t suffer fools – including Anthony Bridgerton,” Netflix tweeted at the time of Ashley’s casting announcement.

In addition to her boldness and attitude, Kate brings a new furry face to London: her pet corgi named Newton.

Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton in "Bridgerton."

Season one follows Daphne Bridgerton’s quest for love despite her eldest brother Anthony’s best efforts to control her prospects. The first season also sees Anthony struggle to reconcile his responsibilities as a viscount with his growing feelings for opera singer Siena Rosso.

Season two ends, and Anthony is determined to find a wife and get married without any complications like love. But in season two, the arrival of the Sharma family throws that carefully laid plan into disarray. Bailey revealed to GQ that season two will address Anthony’s fear of taking on a “patriarchal position” after his father’s early death from a bee sting.

Bailey is a British actor who has had roles in “Broadchurch” and the Phoebe Waller-Bridge comedy “Crashing.” In an interview with Shondaland, Bailey revealed that he has climbed Everest Base Camp, enjoys ducks, plays the clarinet and piano, and—unlike Anthony—is not afraid of bees.

Newton, who plays Anthony’s on-screen brother Colin, told TODAY that Bailey and co-star Claudia Jessie are “fuel” for the entire cast thanks to their constant banter and high energy. “They love to dance around each other as a comedy duo,” Newton told TODAY.

Charithra Chandran as Edwina Sharma in "Bridgerton."

Charithra Chandran is an up-and-coming actress whose previous projects include roles on the shows “Pillow Talk” and “Alex Rider.” On “Bridgerton,” she plays Edwina Sharma, Kate’s younger sister — the focus of Anthony’s romantic pursuits and the third angle of this season’s emerging love triangle.

While Anthony seems to come between Edwina and Kate, Chandran told Entertainment Weekly that one of the show’s true love stories is the one between the sisters. “They’re soulmates,” she said.

Speaking to TODAY, Chandran said she had a more personal relationship with Kate than she did with Edwina.

I think I play a similar role in the family. My family is the most important thing to me. They are everything,” she told TODAY. “I think a lot of people rely on me and I do that with pride and joy.”
