Bridgerton season 2: Netflix *finally* drops full trailer
Bridgerton season 2 is coming, and Netflix has finally blessed us with a full trailer to get us in the mood.
The trailer confirms what we’ve long suspected: Anthony Briderton’s love life will be a major theme in the new season. The three-minute trailer opens with Lady Violet Bridgerton saying, “This is the season where the Viscount intends to find a wife.”
Cue a lot of flirty looks from all the single ladies in the room. We’re also officially introduced to Kate Sharma (played by Sex Education’s Simone Ashley), while the infamous Lady Whistledown continues the story. Spoiler alert: there’s also a scene where Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) crawls out of a lake wearing a white shirt. All very Mr Darcy-like. Are there any teaser images for Bridgerton season 2?
Yes. On January 19, Netflix released eight brand new teaser images, introducing us to a number of new cast members (as well as revisiting some old favourites… hello Penelope Featherington).
One new cast member is Kate Sharma, who can be seen dancing with Anthony Bridgerton. Netflix also gives us a shot of Anthony and his eligible bachelor brother sword-fighting – which is cool. Simone Ashley is joined by Charithra Chandran (who plays her sister Edwina Sharma) and a rather handsome canine companion. We then see Simone as Kate Sharma wielding a rifle in the woods, as well as wearing a hat worthy of a royal wedding invitation.
Next, we see a shot of our favourite best friends, Penelope Featherington and Eloise Bridgerton, engaging in a conversation – which is definitely scandalous. Next up is a photo of the Featherington women – aka Georgia society’s answer to the Kardashians – making their way down the stairs.
In September 2021, Bridgerton’s social media accounts gave fans a glimpse of the latest family to join the scandalous scene of Regency-era London – in a snap that showed a very smug Lady Danbury introducing the Sharma women to another (hopefully) swanky social gathering (with our favourite string quartet playing in the background, of course).
Netflix and Shondaland announced on Instagram that Regé-Jean Page’s character would not be appearing in season two, revealing the news via a statement from Lady Whistledown. “Dear readers, while all eyes are on Sir Anthony Bridgerton’s search for the Viscountess, we bid farewell to Regé-Jean Page, who has played the Duke of Hastings so beautifully,” the announcement began. “We will miss Simon’s presence on screen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family,” the announcement continued. “Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social scene and all that it brings – more glamour and romance than my readers can bear.”
