Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan has addressed a “rumour” that scenes between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton were left on the cutting room floor.
The latest season of the Netflix drama, which recently concluded, focuses on the romance between the two characters.
Taking to her Instagram page yesterday (June 20), Coughlan shared a behind-the-scenes clip of her and co-star Luke Newton sharing a dance, which spurred one fan to express hope that they get to see deleted scenes.
However, in her response, the actor confirmed that the show aired every scene that involved their characters – affectionately titled ‘Polin’.
“Aaah this is just a rumour!” Coughlan wrote in the comments. “I think you got all the Polin we had but there’s lots of BTS still to share.”
The news comes after fellow Bridgerton star Martins Imhangbe revealed that the show cut a sex scene between his character Will Mondrich and Alice (Emma Naomi).
“There was a whole scene written where Will and Alice do it everywhere,” he told Digital Spy. “Then the kids interrupt. There was all this stuff that happened.”
Referring to the couple’s recent inheritance of Alice’s late aunt’s estate, he added: “There’s something about coming to the house then – now that we’ve put aside all the rules, we kind of enjoy the house, you know?”
He admitted that he didn’t know why the scene “didn’t make the cut”, though suggested it could be “saved for another season”.
“I think that there’s something [in] the show that might be coming down the line, but it would be good to see a married couple hold that [passionate] space too,” he added.
Bridgerton seasons 1-3 are streaming on Netflix, along with Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
