We won’t have to wait too much longer to reunite with Mel and Jack, because Netflix recently announced that Virgin River season six is finally filming again.
Naturally, fans were thrilled to hear the new update, but no one’s more excited about it than Virgin River star Martin Henderson (who plays Jack). The 49-year-old actor shares a behind-the-scenes pic with co-star Alexandra Breckenridge (Mel) on Instagram and wrote, “Aaaaaannnnnnndddddd……we’re back! Back at it in Vancouver commencing shooting for season 6 of # virginriver that’s right folks we are at it again! Feels so good to be back in Jack’s boots making more what we hope to be riveting, romantic and racy drama for y’all. “
Breckenridge shared her co-star’s excitement and reposted the pic to her IG Stories, writing, “Virgin River season six, here we come!” Plus, Netflix’s official IG confirmed the news and said, “It’s official! Virgin River season 6 is back in production!”
As for what fans can expect to see in the upcoming season, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told Netflix’s Tudum, “Mel and Jack will advance on their path to parenthood while also turning Lilly’s farm into their ultimate dream home.” He also teased, “Babies and wedding bells are never off the table on Virgin River.”
Season six will take place a few months after the holiday episodes in season five, and Breckenridge and Henderson will be joined by Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole, Colin Lawrence, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Zibby Allen, Sarah Dugdale, Marco Grazzini, Mark Ghanimé, Kai Bradbury and Kandyse McClure.
According to Smith, there will be some “new directions” for the supporting characters, including Preacher, Brady and Kaia. He said, “Brady will be volunteering at the Virgin River fire station under Fire Chief Kaia, who is pulled into Preacher’s past sins. Also, this season, we’ll be surprised by some returning favorites from the past.”
We can’t wait to see what’s next for the Virgin River residents, but until then, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more behind-the-scenes updates.
