Can Yellowstone succeed without Kevin Costner?

I’d like to believe Yellowstone can have a half-decent ending without Kevin Costner as John Dutton, given that Succession was able to aptly conclude without Logan Roy for its final stretch. After all, much of the show has built toward the fate of the Dutton Ranch in John’s absence. Narratively, I think it could work, though my biggest concern is whether the series will still offer the same traction/momentum needed to be the touchstone of a franchise.
