Jesse Spencer returns as Matt Casey in new Chicago Fire season 12 set images. Despite officially departing One Chicago in season 10, Casey has reunited with his former team at Firehouse 51 a few times. In his latest homecoming in the Chicago Fire season 11 finale, he finally made a move on rekindling his romance with Sylvie Brett by getting engaged to her. This effectively sets up his return in Chicago Fire season 12, especially since Brett accepted his proposal. It’s difficult to say what’s going on in the Molly’s set, and the post doesn’t include any context as to what the cast is filming in the Chicago Fire season 12 episode. However, it appears as if other members of Firehouse 51 are also on location, including Joe Minoso and David Eigenberg. Far at the back is Brett actor Kara Killmer, as well.
Why Casey Is Back In Chicago Season 12Showrunner Andrea Newman has confirmed Casey’s return in Chicago Fire season 12, so Spencer’s appearance shouldn’t be a big surprise. Attending his own wedding to Brett is the easiest explanation to explain his comeback. As previously explained by Brett, they are going to host their ceremony in Chicago in front of all their Firehouse 51 friends. Most recently, she even asked Chief Boden to officiate the wedding. After that, she would join him in Portland, Oregon, where he moved after ending his stint in the Windy City. That being said, Newman has been dropping hints that Brett and Casey’s plans won’t go exactly the way they want them to be. This effectively creates doubts about the pair’s chances of tying the knot. One Chicago is known to pull devastating plot twists, and the couple is not immune to that, especially since they no longer have any obligation to return to the franchise after season 12. Spencer officially left Chicago Fire a couple of seasons back, and Killmer will exit the show this year. So, just because Casey is back doesn’t mean that it’s under great circumstances. There’s no upside to spoiling Casey and Brett’s wedding at this point other than wanting to pull a tragic plot twist. Considering everything that they have been through, however, Chicago Fire risks backlash if they build the couple for years only to break them apart just before their supposed wedding. In any case, amid everything that Chief Boden’s squad has gone through, Firehouse 51 needs a cause to celebrate, and a wedding is the perfect occasion for that.
