Bridgerton season 3 will be split into two four-part episodes: Part 1 will premiere on May 16, followed by Part 2 on June 13.
Filming is expected to begin in July 2022, as seen in the cast’s behind-the-scenes video announcing the start of production. Eight months later in March 2023, Nicola Coughlan posted a photo of herself and co-star Luke Newton (who plays her love interest Colin Bridgerton) celebrating, with fans speculating in the comments that the photo was taken at an end-of-season party. A month later in April 2023, Rhimes told Virgin Radio UK that they had “finished filming and editing” and that she was “having a blast filming the show”. Cut to May 2024. The two stars have embarked on a global press tour to promote the new season and have appeared on the covers of Teen Vogue (Coughlan) and Man About Town (Newton). Which couple will be focused on in season 3? While the series has followed Quinn’s novels so far, producers have decided to skip Benedict’s season in favour of Penelope and Colin’s (known to fans as “Polin”) storyline for season three. “We definitely plan to follow each of the [Bridgerton] siblings’ romantic storylines,” Rhimes told Entertainment Tonight. That is to say, “We don’t necessarily have to go in order.”
Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell told Variety that she really felt like this was Colin and Penelope’s moment. “We’ve seen both of these actors on our screens since season 1, and we’ve invested a little bit in them. We know who they are. Rather than delay that momentum, we wanted to bring it into their season. “I really felt like this was the perfect time to start,” she told Variety.
