Bridgerton has been a raging success ever since its first season, so it comes as no surprise that the second season took us *just* a day to binge-watch. Will there be a Bridgerton Season 3?
Yep, no worries here. Bridgerton Season 3 is in the works and we could not be more excited. Not only will there be a third season, but Netflix has confirmed a fourth one is set to release too.
What’s the new plot?
The main storyline till now has been similar to Julia Quinn’s books and Bridgerton Season 3 is expected to follow the same pattern.
The third book, An Offer From a Gentleman, seems to be inspired by the classic Cinderella story. Spoiler alert: According to the book, Sophia Beckett, a young woman, whose horrid stepmother treats her like a servant finds out that she is the long-lost daughter of an earl. Beckett decides to attend Lady Bridgerton’s masquerade ball, where she meets Prince Benedict.
Although the book focuses on Benedict and Sophia’s love story, it will not be the complete focus of the third season. Bridgerton executive producer Shonda Rhimes and Chris Van Dusen revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that the show’s storyline might begin to deviate from the books as the seasons go on.
“There’s eight Bridgerton siblings, so we’re planning on following each one of the siblings’ romantic stories,” Rhimes said. “We’re not necessarily going in order but we are going to be seeing each of the siblings and their stories.”
“In success, we will be on as long as Netflix will have us, but I would love to focus on every single one of those eight Bridgerton siblings and tell romance stories for all of them.”
Of course, Benedict will be making a return in Bridgerton Season 3, as well as his siblings, *especially* the ones yet to be married. Anthony and Daphne will also be returning but won’t be as involved in the storyline as before. As for the Duke of Hastings, he is not likely to return any time soon but there hasn’t been an official confirmation on it.
In an interview with Deadline, actress Simon Ashley revealed that the characters of Kate and Anthony will be returning for more.
“In season 2, there was a lot of push and pull between Kate and Anthony, there were complications with the family, and then they find each other toward the end,” she said. “I think everything is just starting. I’d like to see Kate just let go a bit more and play more in season 3 and kind of swim in that circle of love together. I think they both deserve it.”
Filming for the third season has not begun, so it is predicted to be airing around the winter of 2023, according to the previous seasons’ release dates.
