Exclusive First Look at Photos of ‘Chicago Fire’s Matt Casey-Sylvie Brett Wedding
It’s the “Brettsey” wedding we’ve been waiting seasons for on ‘Chicago Fire’ when Jesse Spencer’s Matt Casey returns to wed Kara Killmer’s Sylvie Brett. At last! Fans of “Brettsey”—Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer)—have been waiting a long time for the couple to get married and it’s finally going to happen on next Wednesday’s Chicago Fire—and Parade has a sneak peek at two photos from the wedding episode.Casey proposed to Sylvie in the season 11 finale and even though she had broken up with him earlier that season, she said yes. It works out it’s a nice way for Killmer to exit the series—her choice—because Spencer has already been gone for a couple of seasons, so in the story, they can get married, and she can move to Portland to start their married life together.
Sylvie wants to keep the wedding small, special friends and family, and her co-workers are happy for her, but sad that they’re going to lose her earlier than had been the original plan. When Sylvie and Casey first met, he was involved with Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund), who he later married and divorced, especially when Gabby wanted to move to Puerto Rico, which she did. But even though Casey was divorced, and Sylvie was attracted to him, she refused to date him. It was the girlfriend rule: Never date your friend’s ex.
Brett moved on. She got involved with Chaplain Kyle Sheffield (Teddy Sears) and even left Chicago to live with him in Indiana, but it didn’t work out and she returned to Firehouse 51. During that time, Sylvie and Casey grew closer until an unannounced appearance by Gabby made Sylvie cautious again that her former partner and Casey would get back together. The two finally kissed in Season 9, and it looked like they might get together, they were dating, but then Casey had to move to Portland to become a foster parent to his late teammate Andy Darden’s (Corey Sorenson) two sons. They tried long-distance dating but even though Sylvie had told Casey, “It’s always been you,” the distance was too much for them. Then they were reunited when Casey returned to Chicago to be the best man at Kelly Severide’s (Taylor Kinney) wedding to Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), but the long-distance aspect of their relationship was telling on both of them.
“How much longer can we keep this up?” Brett asked. Casey replied, “I don’t know, but we’re together tonight.”She tried to move on, dating Dylan (Christopher Allen), but she realized that it wasn’t going to work when she decided to adopt a baby. Casey heard Sylvie was single again and he flew to Chicago and in the Season 11 finale, he proposed to her. He didn’t mind about the baby.”Sylvie Brett, we were meant to be,” Casey said. “Will you make me and the three kids the luckiest family in the world? Marry me.”
She said yes in the Season 12 premiere and this Wednesday, we’ll be able to tune in for the happy event.
