Fate of Blue Bloods with Tom Selleck confirmed as CBS announces if it will get season 10
Tom Selleck’s fate with the police procedural drama Blue Bloods has received a green light as CBS has renewed the series for season 10.
The drama series follows the Reagan clan, a multi-generational family of cops fighting crime in New York City, and the former Friends actor plays the character of Frank Reagan, a Police Commissioner and patriarch of the clan.
The renewal, which was confirmed by TVLine, will mark a huge milestone when the show airs its 200th episode during the new season.
“Blue Bloods has been a top 10 drama and Friday’s top-rated show every year it’s been on the air,” said CBS’ president Kelly Kahl in a statement.
“On a night that many have claimed is quiet for broadcast television, its quality writing, superb acting and familial warmth have attracted an average of over 13 million passionate viewers each week for nine years.”
He added: “We are delighted that Tom will return and that the show will continue to be a vital component of the CBS schedule next season.”
The broadcaster’s official figures indicate that season 9 hit 8.5 million viewers in average and a 0.8 demo rating, ranking it in the third and seventh place among CBS’ drama series.
The numbers go up to 13 million viewers and a 1.4 demo rating including those who catch up with the show after a new episode has been aired.
Blue Bloods first hit the small screen back in 2010 and with nine seasons down the line, it’s become one of CBS’ most popular shows.
