The streaming giant had already confirmed a few days ago that the recording of the second season would begin in the first quarter of 2021. Following the order of the books, this second season will be focused on The viconde who loved me, that is, the character of Anthony Bridgerton, the older brother, played on screen by actor Jonathan Bailey.
It was one of the actors from the filming who “leaked” the news, publishing an image in London. It was the interpreter Luke Newton, who plays Colin Bridgerton, who has posted on his Instagram profile (@lukenewtonuk) an image in which he and his namesake Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton) can be seen. “The boys are back in the city,” wrote the actor next to a gallery in which you can see both dressed in period clothing and riding horses through the streets of the English capital. In another of the photographs, the protagonist of this second season, Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), also appears.
Although much of the plot is still unknown, we do know, thanks to the books, that Anthony Bridgerton will develop a new love interest for the mysterious Kate Sharma, who will be played by Simone Ashley, whom we already know from other Netflix series such as Sex Education or The Girl.
Chris Van Dusen, creator and showrunner of The Bridgertons, explained that in the new season there were going to be many additions of new characters. “Anthony is going to have a love interest next season, and I think he’s going to be as touching and as beautiful as viewers of the first season have come to expect from the show.” Jonathan Bailey himself declared, in his interview with TELVA, that to build this character he had had to delve a lot into his own emotions and his masculine conscience: “For my character, Anthony, the central point is the death of his father when he I was very young.
