Further Proof Debbie Allen and Phylicia Rashad Are the Cutest Sisters
Double trouble! Not that you needed further proof that Debbie Allen and Phylicia Rashad are the cutest sisters around, but here it is anyway. The acting/dancing/directing siblings have been showcasing their fun-filled lives and sisterly love on Instagram a lot lately.

Five months ago, Allen posted a tribute to Rashad for her 68th birthday. “Happy birthday to my big sister. Love you Lish!” she captioned a throwback black-and-white snap of the twosome striking a sassy dancing pose and sporting some pretty serious earrings

Three months later, Allen, 66, followed this up with a shot of the duo at the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles to promote August Wilson’s play Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which Rashad directed. “Everyone run to go see Ma Rainey @ctgla!” Rashad’s younger sister, frequent Grey’s Anatomy director herself, gushed. “It’s amazing! Kudos Lish!” Upping the cuteness factor was the fact that Rashad went in all white while Allen wore all black. It’s unclear whether they coordinated this opposites-attract look, but we like to think it wasn’t an accident.
A few weeks later, they fan-girled over another celeb: Tom Hanks. The sisters were visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture. “In the elevator with @tomhanks!” Allen shared beside a selfie of the trio. No one seemed to be ready for the shot, which only made it that much more endearing. It’s also worth noting that, yet again, the ladies were both rocking some pretty impressive jewelry, this time in the form of large-and-in-charge necklaces.
But it’s their two most-recent video posts that are, by far, the standout evidence of their awesomeness. In the first video clip, the ladies playfully declare, “We travelin’!” as they make their way through the Charlotte airport en route to New York City. “We’re traveling through the Charlotte airport, named after Queen Charlotte,” Phylicia explains before adding, “The black queen.” Allen adds, “These people don’t know who’s who!”
Well, they hopefully know now! The next day the sisters posted a follow-up video showing what they got up to once they arrived in the Big Apple.

“Now we are getting dressed to go induct Miss Phylicia into the Theater Hall of Fame,” Allen explains in a video of the two beauties that showed them dressed up and glammed out. “She deserves it. Darling, you’re so beautiful,” she adds before planting a sweet kiss on Rashad’s cheek. “Thank you for being here to present it to me,” Rashad replies with that slightly imperious look we’ve come to know and love.
And thank you both for showing us what true sisterhood is all about: statement jewelry, having fun in airports, and appreciating what you have.
