“I love helping people find homes here, sell their homes here,” Hearst revealed
Rick Hearst may be known for acting, but that’s not his only job!
In a video posted to Instagram, Hearst shared that in addition to his role on General Hospital, he is also a real estate agent in New Jersey. Explaining that he has returned to the famous soap, Hearst showed his followers around his backyard revealing the surprising news.
“I’ve been on break from GH for a couple weeks now,” he began the clip. “Gonna go back in a couple of days. Gonna get on a plane. I’m in Jersey, currently, New Jersey where I live. I just kind of wanted to show folks what it looks like.”
He continued, “There’s different parts of New Jersey. The part that I live in, South Central New Jersey, is a beautiful place. I also happen to be a real estate agent here. I love helping people find homes here, sell their homes here. It’s really a great lifestyle out here.”
He went on to explain that he is from the East Coast, and “this is my blood here,” so he always knew he wanted to stay. Offering a tour of the yard’s trees and his garden, which he said his mom tends to, Hearst joked that he had to mow the lawn soon.
“I do mow my own lawn,” he laughed. “I know, nuts.”
Complete with a pool and large grass areas, Hearst said his family calls the home “the compound” because of its size.
“We’re very happy here. It’s very peaceful, it’s very tranquil,” he added. “I love being here.”
He then plugged his real estate business, saying: “So if you happen to be looking to come to New Jersey, give me a shout. I can find you a place. Or if you are in New Jersey and would like to get an estimate on your home, see what the options are available to you, and would love to be able to work with you as well.”
Hearst returned to the set of General Hospital in August after eight years off the show. He first found fame on Days of Our Lives playing Scott Banning before moving on to appear in Beverly Hills, 90210, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless. In 2002, he began his career as Ric Lansing on GH.
In July, Hearst announced his reprisal on the ABC hit in a video on his social media.
“Very excited to announce my return to General Hospital in the role of Ric Lansing. Stay tuned. You never know what you’re gonna get with this guy,” he wrote in the caption.
In the clip, he said, “I’m looking forward to being able to take the story that’s going to be coming out. A lot of exciting stuff, of course, Ric tends to be in everybody’s business. All at once, and always has his own agenda.”
In 2009, he took a hiatus from the series before returning in 2014 for two more years and exiting again in 2016. During that time on the show, he won two Primetime Emmy awards.
