Luke was born on July 4, 1988, in Southampton, United Kingdom. However, because his father worked at Disneyland Paris, Luke grew up in Fontainebleau, France. He graduated from the Lycee International Francois Ler, a public high school in France, which he attended from 1997 to 2005. After finishing school, Luke moved to England in 2006 and began his acting career after joining Stratford Upon Avon. In 2013, he entered the University of Bristol to train at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
Having grown up in France, Thompson claims that French is his first language. So, when he enrolled at the University of Bristol, he struggled a lot. He explained, “When I spoke English, I often felt empty.” So, he started practicing English with the university staff to get more familiar with the language.
