Gordon Ramsay and Tana Ramsay’s life in Cornwall

Gordon Ramsay and Tana Ramsay’s life in Cornwall

Cornwall has been the home of Gordon and Tana Ramsay’s family since 2015. Since then, the couple have owned a number of properties in the county – including Trebetherick, Rock and Fowey.

The Hell’s Kitchen star and his family spent the first part of lockdown at their Trebetherick home. Daymer Bay House was first bought by the father-of-five for £4 million in 2016, while the 55-year-old was in the process of planning to raze a property he already owned in Rock – which is now the family’s home in Cornwall. The family lived there during the renovations and in March 2021, sold the property for £3.5 million more than the original purchase price.

Land Registry documents reveal the £7.5m sale is the most expensive in the whole of Cornwall in 2021 and is believed to be the most expensive transaction ever recorded in the county.

The Ramsays have moved to their seaside mansion in Rock and have also sold their Fowey property. The Grade II listed house, Trevail House on Fore Street, was sold in October 2020 for £2.75m. It is the town’s former Lloyd’s Bank and underwent extensive renovations in 2017 before being rented out as a holiday home for up to £7,000 a week. His daughter Holly Ramsay and son Jack Ramsay spent time at the property with friends during the first coronavirus lockdown.

The Ramsays’ Rock estate has changed a lot since the Kitchen Nightmares star bought it. The dilapidated five-bedroom 1920s property cost the celebrity chef £4.4 million in 2015 – the second most expensive sale ever recorded in Cornwall at the time.

He was granted planning permission by Cornwall Council to replace it with a main house and a smaller second property, called ‘The Garden House’. The main house has two kitchens and four en-suite bathrooms and two terraces overlooking Camel Bay, while the smaller house has three bedrooms, a boat shed, a garage as well as a kitchen, dining room and living room. Gordon and his wife Tana added a number of impressive features at a cost of £247,000.

The infinity pool cost £102,095.50, the wine cellar £31,412 and the boat shed £116,337. You can read about all their home improvements here.

While in Cornwall, Gordon and Tana often share photos and videos of their family life here. These include lovely memories of the celebrity chef spending father-son time with Oscar, playing outdoors or walking along coastal paths, or even snaps of a family trip to Rock Beach, where he had a great time with wife Tana, Oscar and daughter Holly.

The Ramsays even invited the Beckhams over in 2020, after David and Victoria returned from a family holiday in Greece. They all surprised chef Paul Ainsworth when they dined at his restaurant The Mariners in Rock.

Despite tensions with some locals since the first coronavirus lockdown, and his unfortunate comment that he ‘can’t stand Cornish people’ earlier this year, Gordon has previously said he ‘absolutely loves’ Cornwall.

During his time in the county, Gordon has supported many local restaurants and businesses. Taco Boys UK is one of his favourites, and Gordon has previously said Nice Baps in Wadebridge has the best burgers in the country. Last year, he also praised St Kew Farm Shop & Cafe’s BLTs on his Instagram – which led to the business’s ‘busiest week ever’.

In 2020, Gordon and Tana helped a local cause when they decided to join Cornwall Air Ambulance as the charity’s new ambassadors. The family visited the charity’s airbase in Newquay in August to meet the crew on duty.

Gordon said at the time: “Cornwall has been our family home for five years now and we are always absolutely amazed by the life-saving work we see the Cornwall Air Ambulance carry out every day. We are incredibly proud and honoured to be ambassadors and join the team in continuing to raise awareness and promote the amazing service they selflessly provide for the people of Cornwall.” You can read more about it here.
