Gordon Ramsay poses in matching pyjamas with wife Tana and five children as they enjoy a festive family holiday in the Maldives

Gordon Ramsay shared a snap of his family wearing matching pyjamas as they enjoyed their Christmas break in the Maldives.

The TV chef, 53, looked in high spirits as he posed alongside his five children and wife Tana, 45, on the beach in Amilla Fushi.

The couple, who welcomed their fifth child Oscar in April this year, wore matching navy blue pyjamas featuring a skiing snowman and snowflakes. They stood with Jack, 19, Matilda, 17, and Megan, 21, while Holly, 19, got down on one knee and held her little brother Oscar, eight months, in her arms.

Oscar appeared too exhausted after all the festivities to get up for the family photo, falling fast asleep in his sister’s arms.

The family were lit up by hundreds of fairy lights dangling from the foliage behind them.

It comes after Gordon admitted he “fell to the floor and fainted” as they welcomed Oscar into the world – the first time he had witnessed a birth.

He said: ‘Tana didn’t want me there for the previous births, she said “I don’t want you to see me like this so get out.”‘

‘I sat there and Oscar jumped out through the sunroof and they threw him on top of him and he screamed and I fell backwards, the nurse grabbed me.’

The Michelin-starred chef said he had chosen relaxing music to create a chilled atmosphere in the delivery room – which had side effects.

He said: ‘Ed Sheeran was playing, I put Ed on to calm everyone down. I put Ed on and I passed out, I passed out like an idiot.

‘Have you ever been in an operating room where there’s so much commotion, so much going on? And then boom. By the way, I’ve never fainted in my life, that was the first time.’

On witnessing the birth of his first child, he added: ‘It was scary, it was crowded, they’re professionals [doctors] and I’m a control freak so I was like, ‘Get me out of here please’.

Gordon and Tana announced the birth of their fifth child on social media in April, captioning it: ‘After 3 BAFTAs and an Emmy… we finally won an Oscar.’

Please welcome Oscar James Ramsay, who landed at 12.58pm today for lunch Xxx.’

Tana revealed she was expecting a child in a celebratory Instagram video posted from the family’s London home on New Year’s Day.

The star also revealed that he reached out to fellow chef Jamie Oliver when he heard the recent news that Jamie’s business was struggling.

The Jamie’s Fifteen, Jamie’s Italian and Barbecoa restaurant chain collapsed in May, with more than 20 restaurants closing and 1,000 jobs lost.

Speaking about the setbacks, Jamie said he was “naive” and “didn’t know” how to run a successful business.

Gordon said: “It was a disaster, I don’t think anyone enjoys that kind of failure.

“He’s a great guy and a great chef in general and it was sad to see him go overnight but we had a drink and it was a tough time, like all of us out there… Yes [I called] straight away.”

Regarding any reports of previous discord between him and Jamie, Gordon said: “We went on holiday to Cornwall last year, he came over for a barbecue… Yes [we’re friends] completely…

“Nobody wants to see someone fail like that because he’s an incredibly talented person by nature so it’s a shame.”
