Gordon Ramsay shares his 7-minute salmon recipe including secret tip
Gordon Ramsay has shared his secret to cooking a ‘great’ salmon that’s ‘so moist’. The famous chef explained in a YouTube video how to keep the flavour and moisture in the fish, the Express reports.
He said: “The secret behind cooking great salmon is to cook it skin side down. Skin side down protects the salmon, stops it from overcooking. But more importantly, we get that skin nice and crispy. He also advised to cut slits into the salmon skin for quicker cooking and crispiness, and to season it with salt, pepper and Cajun spice. The chef suggested not to cook salmon when it’s ice cold. Let it get to room temperature for quicker cooking and to prevent drying out. Heat the pan first before adding oil. If you put oil in a cold pan, it can burn before the pan heats up. Add a bit of oil to your pan, then place the salmon in. As it cooks, press down gently with a spatula.”That keeps the salmon skin incredibly flat, but gets nice and crispy.” Flip the salmon for an even cook. Aim for a lovely golden brown. For extra flavour, add garlic and thyme, and a bit of butter to keep the salmon “so moist.” Let the salmon sit on low heat for about seven minutes. Squeeze a bit of lemon juice over it when done, and serve with your favourite sides.
