Adam Peaty has been dating Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Holly since 2023 and the celebrity chef has played a huge role in the swimmer’s life, helping him get back on track
Olympic champion Adam Peaty has opened up about the pivotal role Gordon Ramsay has played in his life, crediting the celebrity chef with helping him pull himself out of “a deep, dark hole”.
The swimming sensation, who won silver for Great Britain at Paris 2024, has faced personal challenges after his unbeaten streak came to an end at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, coinciding with his split from the mother of his son.
Describing the past few years as “three years of hell”, Adam found solace and direction when he started dating Holly. And it was her father, an eight-star Michelin chef, who became an unexpected inspiration for Peaty.
In an intimate conversation with The Sunday Times, Adam expressed his admiration for Gordon’s no-nonsense approach to life and work: “He [Gordon] is an incredible source of energy to be around and an incredible person to look up to. Gordon is a high achiever.”
Adam drew parallels between Gordon’s culinary success and his own sporting ambitions, saying, “He’s worked his way up to the top of his industry and worked in a place where there’s no bullshit. I learn so much from that and the professionalism he brings every day, the relentless pursuit.”
The swimmer also reflected on how Ramsay’s influence helped shape his mindset: “So when I saw that, I was like, ‘Yeah, why can’t I do this? Why can’t I do this every day? Why do I have to be so emotionally attached to things? ‘” the Mirror reports.
The Olympic swimmer and girlfriend Holly, who started dating in May 2023, certainly seemed smitten too – with Holly supporting them in Paris. In December, the pair showed off matching inked dedications to each other.
Adam, who booked his place in the Paris Olympics final after winning the British men’s 100m breaststroke in the fastest time since 2021, seems to be getting along with his potential future father-in-law. In a pre-Olympics chat, Gordon couldn’t resist throwing one of his infamous taunts at Adam.
