Gordon Ramsay and his Michelin stars
Gordon Ramsay, a Scottish-born British chef, grew up in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, and initially aspired to be a professional footballer. However, when an early injury ended any hopes of a promising career on the pitch, Ramsay returned to university to complete a degree in hotel management. His dedication and natural talent led him to train with some of the world’s top chefs, including Albert Roux and Marco Pierre White in London, and Guy Savoy and Joël Robuchon in France.

Renowned for his culinary talents and foul-mouthed nature, Ramsay is one of the world’s most recognisable chefs. A television personality on both sides of the Atlantic, he divides opinion – no doubt at least part of the reason for his continued success. At the dinner table, however, there is no room for controversy. This man can cook.

With a restaurant empire that includes more than 30 highly acclaimed restaurants across Europe, Asia and the United States, Ramsay is one of the most influential and successful restaurateurs in the world.
Gordon Ramsay Michelin Stars
Gordon Ramsay ranks high among Michelin-starred chefs. He received his first Michelin star in 1994 and his second in 1997. His third prestigious Michelin star was awarded at his eponymous Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in 2001, making him the first Scottish chef to earn three Michelin stars, an accolade he still holds.

Gordon Ramsay Michelin Stars

Today, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay is the oldest restaurant in London to hold the accolade and Ramsay is one of only four chefs in the UK to have maintained three stars. Gordon also holds a Michelin star at his other London restaurant, Pétrus in Knightsbridge. In addition to his UK stars, Gordon holds two stars at Le Pressoir d’Argent in Bordeaux and one star at Gordon Ramsay au Trianon in Versailles.

In total, Ramsay has been awarded 22 stars at 16 restaurants, including those he owned and/or operated. However, after seeing nine of those restaurants close, he now holds seven stars at four restaurants.

Restaurant Gordon Ramsay
Ramsay currently operates 35 restaurants, down from a total of 57 throughout his career.
