How Will Brett Leave Chicago Fire?

Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman reveals Brett will be replaced by a new character who will work under Violet, who is stepping into a leadership position.
Violet is currently helping Brett with wedding preparations, suggesting that Brett’s exit from the show will involve her marriage to Casey.Introducing a new character will help fill the missing paramedic position and offer an easy way for them to become part of the show.Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman offers an update for season 12, revealing more information about who will replace Sylvie Brett (Kara Kilmer) and which other character will be affected. While Brett is expected to appear in numerous episodes for season 12, this will be her final season on the show. The groundwork for her exit is already being laid, with Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) proposing to her in the season 11 finale.

Speaking with TVLine, Newman revealed there will be a new character introduced later in Chicago Fire season 12 that will take Brett’s place after she leaves. The showrunner explained this newcomer will be working under Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith), who will be taking the leadership role her former mentor used to have. Check out what Newman had to say below:
Ultimately, there will be somebody new coming in and they’ll be working under Violet (Hanako Greensmith). That’s part of the great Violet journey this year, as she continues to grow as a character and gets to step into a leadership position on ambo, too.
In season 12, episode 2, “Call Me McHolland,” Violet begins helping Brett make wedding preparations, including possible locations and planning a bachelorette party. Ultimately, she asks her fellow paramedic if she will be her maid of honor, the moment seemingly finalizing what the leaving character’s fate will be. Given how much the marriage preparations have progressed since Chicago Fire season 11’s ending, it appears to be key to how she will leave the show.

It makes sense for a new character to be introduced, as Ambulance 61 will have a missing space for a paramedic. Ultimately, though, Violet’s familiarity will make her stepping into a leadership role the primary storyline as viewers get to know the newcomer. However, having someone who used to be the new recruit training them will offer an easy way for them to become an accustomed part of the show.
