Howie Mandel visits Michigan family to deliver, install new toilet

The Cunningham family got a special visit from actor and comedian Howie Mandel after winning American Standard’s ActiClean Patrol video contest. Mandel delivered the family a brand new ActiClean self-cleaning toilet.

Actor and comedian Howie Mandel visited Michigan over the weekend for a visit with a Waterford family who won a contest sponsored by American Standard. The grand prize in the contest was a new self-cleaning toilet which was delivered by Mandel to the home of Sarah Cunningham.

Entrants into the contest were encouraged to submit videos to the company about why they needed a self-cleaning toilet.

Mandel visited the Cunningham family on Saturday, Dec. 10 and even offered to install the toilet while at the home. In videos shared on the American Standard Facebook page, Mandel is seen greeting the family, joking around with them and talking about how exciting the new toilet is.

“This is better than the lottery,” Mandel said.

After placing the toilet next to the family Christmas tree, Mandel invited the Cunningham children to come see the new gift.

“There’s nothing more exciting than on a holiday morning than to come down and find under your tree, a new toilet,” Mandel jokes.

After installing the new toilet, Cunningham and Mandel had a ceremonial burying of the family toilet brush as the tool was no longer needed in the home.

The self-cleaning toilet, known as the ActiClean, has two modes that allow for the owner to either do a quick one-minute cleaning of the bowl or a full deep clean that takes 10 minutes to complete.

A self-describer germaphobe, Mandel is serving as a public relation spokesperson for American Standard.
