In pictures: Gordon Ramsay and Sandwich Magazine host star-studded party
The event celebrates the eighth issue of Sandwich Magazine, edited by Chef Ramsay.
Last week, our sister magazine Sandwich hosted a star-studded party with world-famous chef Gordon Ramsay to celebrate their eighth issue. The Chef’s Special, edited by Ramsay, was released in January.
Inspired by the infamous meme he created on the Late Late Show with James Corden and filmed by Brian Bowen Smith in his Los Angeles kitchen, the Sandwich cover special sees Gordon Ramsay ‘Idiot Sandwiching’ himself in print for the first time.
The magazine’s Chef’s Special delves into Gordon’s relationship with meme culture, how cooking has changed since he started, and how his love of sandwiches led to his new ‘Idiot Sandwich’ show. Gordon asked the world’s top chefs, including Thomas Keller, Paul Ainsworth, Christina Tosi and Grant Achatz, what sandwiches they make during their breaks from work. The issue also features the first interview and photoshoot with classically trained chef and social media star Olivia Tiedemann.
Gordon Ramsay’s partnership with Sandwich promotes his new culinary show, ‘Idiot Sandwich’, a brand new sandwich-making competition series hosted by Ramsay himself and inspired by his hugely popular meme. Featuring a host of social media creators including Albert Can Cook, Owen Han, Sydney Morgan and more, each episode sees three contestants go head-to-head to create a sandwich they think will go viral in just 20 minutes – with the added pressure of being judged by Gordon.
At the event, held at Gordon’s Pizza East, Ramsay debuted his very own Idiot Sandwich in front of a packed house of London’s finest culinary creatives. Showtime Photo Booth was on hand to capture the fun with their outdoor photo booth.
Ramsay’s Idiot Sandwich, which is available at the chef’s Bread Street Kitchen restaurant, is this week’s Sandwich of the Week and features braised beef short rib, melted cheddar, confit mushrooms and spicy tomato sauce. The sandwich was served to guests at the launch, including Real Housewives star Lisa Vanderpump. Photographer Ellie Ramsden was on hand to capture every moment.
