While Romero passed away in 2017 and so was never able to create the movie himself, it is based on the treatment he wrote prior to his death. Twilight Of The Dead will also take place on a tropical island, which plays into ideas that Romero himself presented in previous movies in the franchise. If it wasn’t for Romero’s zombie creations, there wouldn’t be TheWalking Dead, there wouldn’t be movies like Shaun of the Dead or 28 Days Later, and soon fans will see how the master had planned to finish his franchise with Twilight of the Dead.

It is reportedly going to “[delve] into the dark nature of humanity from the perspective of the last humans on earth who are caught between factions of the undead.”
