Judge the Jewels: Nicola Coughlan’s Custom Chupi Claddagh Ring Connects Her to Her Irish Roots

THE SIGHTING: Actress Nicola Coughlan has been everywhere during her Bridgerton press tour, and one piece of jewelry has come along with her for the ride: a custom Chupi Diamonds Claddagh ring.

THE JEWELS: Nicola Coughlan’s bespoke Claddagh ring features a 2 carat heart shaped lab-grown diamond held in a pair of hands. The diamond is crowned with three marquise diamonds, a traditional detail that represents loyalty but also symbolizes the past, present & future, as well as the third season of Bridgerton. The ring is set on a signature Chupi hawthorn twig, cast from a hawthorn tree in 14K yellow gold.

While we’re looking at the 2-carat ring specifically, Coughlan’s Galway Bridgerton premiere outfit includes several other Chupi Diamonds jewels as well: a smaller version of her bespoke Chupi Claddagh ring, a Chupi North Star Claddagh ring, and a bespoke pair of Claddagh diamond earrings.

The brand is now offering Nicola’s 2 carat lab diamond Claddagh ring on their website for $10,988, with the smaller 0.50 carat center stone version for $3,288, and the North Star heart design ring for $1,088. The earrings are now available on Chupi’s website for $3,618, or in a smaller version for $2,518.

Chupi Diamond said on their Instagram that the relationship started when Coughlan reached out to them to inquire about commissioning her Chupi Claddagh ring. I love when we find solid proof that the celebrity in these stories actually sought out the jewelry in question.

THE TRENDS: Past years of Bridgerton have seen the leads of each season catapulted into temporary superstardom and I think that Nicola Coughlan’s Bridgerton fame boost has been the most extreme yet. The star is both talented and likable, and her active online presence (and 5.8 million IG followers) means that she’s a pro at relating to fans.

I can confirm the enthusiasm is real because I absolutely feel it: I’m desperate to be friends with her and, failing that, I’d be happy to dress like her.

I can especially see jewelry lovers with Irish roots developing a sudden interest in Claddagh rings…and don’t miss the fact that we’ve got a heart-shaped lab diamond here, too.

WHAT DO WE THINK? The Chupi Claddagh ring is a wonderful way for Coughlan to carry a reference to her own Irish roots with her as her Bridgerton stardom takes her to unknown places. A beautiful and symbolic jewelry choice that fans of the actress and her shows will be able to appreciate and covet.

And absolutely love that Coughlan chose an Irish brand to make her jewelry for the Galway premiere of Bridgerton. We love a star who supports small business!
