After Brett and Casey’s wedding, Kara Killmer reveals if she will ever make a Chicago Fire return. One Chicago delivers one of the best weddings Firehouse 51 has ever had when Brett (Killmer) and Casey (Jesse Spencer) finally tie the knot at a fish shop. Despite some hiccups before the event, everyone rallied to make the occasion as special as possible for the couple, especially considering how much they had gone through just to be together in the last few years. It isn’t all a celebration, however, as Chicago Fire season 12, episode 6 also marks Brett’s final episode.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Killmer responded to the possibility of ever reprising her role of Brett in the future. While it’s unlikely that she will return in Chicago Fire season 12, the actor seemed optimistic that she will find her way back to One Chicago, considering how important Firehouse 51 is to her. Brett’s Chicago Fire Exit Explained
(And How It Relates To Casey)
Killmer’s sentiments about coming back to Chicago Fire after leaving mirror those of Spencer’s when he first left the show.

Spencer left One Chicago long ago, but despite no longer being a main character, he made regular visits to Firehouse 51 for a mix of reasons. In his first comeback, he attended Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella Kidd’s (Miranda Rae Mayo) wedding in season 10, followed by a series of cameos, both for professional and personal matters. In the Chicago Fire season 11 finale, he surprisingly proposed to Brett despite the pair being broken up. While the series left the plot unresolved until the season 12 premiere, Killmer’s decision to leave the franchise spoiled her character’s answer.

Had it not been for Killmer’s exit, it’s unlikely that Brett and Casey would have gotten engaged, let alone get married. The couple initially split up due to the difficulties of maintaining a long-distance relationship, and with Casey not leaving Portland, Oregon anytime soon, their marriage wouldn’t have been sustainable. However, getting hitched offered Chicago Fire a fairly easy way to write out Brett on a happy note — quite a rare occasion in the Wolf Entertainment TV universe. After tying the knot, Brett will officially move across the country with her new husband.
