Kitchen Nightmares Is Returning to Fox After Nearly a Decade
Gordon Ramsay will be soon be screaming about raw chicken on Fox once again with Kitchen Nightmares set to return.
Kitchen Nightmares is getting a revival. Deadline reports that the series is coming back to television sets in the U.S. along with Gordon Ramsay, who will be back to scold restaurant owners for the sake of improving their flailing businesses. The revived Kitchen Nightmares will join a slew of programming at Fox that has already kept a strong presence from Ramsay on the network. His series Next Level Chef was recently renewed for another two seasons, bringing it up through season four. Fox also hosts Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, and MasterChef Jr.
The new Kitchen Nightmares will be produced by Studio Ramsay. It was previously produced by ITV Studios America. Word of the show’s revival comes just ahead of the network’s Upfront presentation in New York, where more details may be revealed.
The show hails from the UK where it was originally titled Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. Following the original show’s arrival in the UK in 2004, the American version debuted on Fox in 2007. The show would last for nearly 100 episodes across seven seasons before it was wrapped up in 2014. In the meantime, the show has maintained its popularity through the high viewership of episodes and clips made available for streaming on YouTube. Ramsay also hosted a very similar show, Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back, for three seasons between 2018 and 2020.
“I’ve had a phenomenal 10 years making 123 episodes, 12 seasons, shot across 2 continents, watched by tens of millions of people and sold to over 150 countries. It’s been a blast but it’s time to call it a day,” Ramsay had said when announced that both the American and British versions of the show were finished.
Perhaps taking a lengthy break from the show was what Ramsay really needed. In 2017, he admitted that he felt some regret over ending Kitchen Nightmares, teasing that perhaps the show was not finished after all. That’s what wound up leading to the 24 Hours to Hell and Back experiment, which he even teased would be superior to Kitchen Nightmares.
“Yes, it was wrong to pull my own show off air, but that’s it,” he told the Daily News. “The biggest demand over the last four years is for Kitchen Nightmares (to come back) and what I am putting together is a return of something magical,” Ramsay says. “[It will be] way, way, way better than Kitchen Nightmares, but along those lines.”
The show may have been fun in its own right, but it did not replace Kitchen Nightmares, perhaps explaining why the time has come to revive that show after all. It’s not yet clear exactly when the revival will premiere, but classic episodes of the show are available to watch on streaming services. Episodes can be found on the free streaming platforms Tubi and Amazon FreeVee. You can also find more of Kitchen Nightmares’ classic episodes streaming on Hulu, Peacock, and Discovery+.
