Actress Lisa Kudrow admitted she’s found comfort while mourning the loss of her former Friends co-star Matthew Perry because he ‘was happy the day he died.’
Lisa Kudrow has revealed the “odd” reason she has found peace with Matthew Perry’s passing.
The Easy A actress has been one of the most vocal out of the Friends cast when it comes to discussing their beloved co–star’s death. She previously shared the gut-wrenching way she is keeping Perry’s memory alive: rewatching the series.
While other cast members still seem to be heartbroken, Kudrow has found comfort through her mourning.
Kudrow recently made an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast. While sitting down with Dax Shepard and Monica Padman, she discussed her pre-med background, how she got into acting and the misconceptions about fame.
Throughout their deep conversations, she spoke about her time on Friends and then passing of the late actor.
Shepherd mentioned that he knew Perry “through sobriety.”
It was obvious that Kudrow was a little on edge as she said: “This is where I need my nicotine.”
The podcast host admitted he knows how “tough” it can be to love someone with addiction. He went on to tell Kudrow she is lucky she has the Friends series to see Perry when the addiction didn’t consume him.
“I would be grateful to get to go back and see it before it had taken its toll,” he said.
She admitted that she is still mourning but she is coping with it in her own “complicated” way.
“This will sound odd. I’m more comforted that he was happy the day he died,” she shared. “He got to die happy. And to me, that was a gift.”When the news of his passing originally broke in October of 2023, Kudrow shared a heartfelt tribute to Instagram.
She shared that the actor and her “initially bonded” over a game of poker where he “made it so much fun.”Kudrow said his “open heart” benefited the “six way relationship.”
She went on to thank him for “making me laugh so hard,” “being completely brilliant,” and the “grace and love” she learned through him.
The last time Kudrow and Perry were seen together was during the Friends:The Reunion special that was released in 2021 on Max.
