Looks Like Virgin River Season 6 Will Give Mel and Jack Even Less Screen Time
At least that’s what all fans believe after a new interview with the showrunner.
Virgin River season 5, which premiered in September, has mostly scratched the itch for drama that the show’s fans had. However, it seems that the series is starting to get way too carried away with side characters as it continuously sacrifices the main characters’ screen time.
New interview with Virgin River showrunner Patrick Sean Smith doesn’t really give hope that this will change in any way. In season 5, fans have already started to feel that the show is neglecting its main characters, Mel and Jack, but Smith’s interview with Glamour, which was mostly dedicated to characters like Charmaine or Lizzie, didn’t help.
With two Christmas specials coming, the only hint fans received from the new interview was that Mel and Jack are going on some kind of a scavenger hunt trying to find out who is Mel’s biological father. That’s it — no new clues on their season 6 run.
This has fans thinking that Mel and Jack will receive less screen time in all upcoming installments of Virgin River — and it’s not like people are ready for that. Some fans have already threatened to drop the show altogether, because Mel and Jack are the only ones that keep things interesting.
If Virgin River turns into a Charmaine redemption festival instead, it “won’t survive,” fans claim. If anything, it would be better for Virgin River to end on season 6, because the fandom feels very ready to bid adieu to the show that doesn’t pay enough attention to Mel and Jack.
Still, it may be too soon to pound the alarm. Let’s at least wait and see what the upcoming Christmas specials have in store. Both episodes will release on Netflix on November 30.
There are many things that make soap operas so appealing to viewers, from the daily release of new episodes to keep everyone hooked to the unrealistic yet entertaining plot twists. Although the genre has seen its decline in the 2010s, there are still many people glued to their screens waiting for the next episode.
Netflix’s TV series Virgin River may be the next best thing for soap lovers. Although it takes time to film and release new seasons, just like any other Netflix production, the overall vibe of the storyline would appeal to fans of Days of Our Lives or The Young and the Restless.
It has a small town where everyone seems to know everyone else. It has a dash of political intrigue, a dash of crime, a drama of dubious parentage, and, of course, lots and lots of romance, starting with the main characters, Mel and Jack, and spreading to all the supporting characters as well.
