Netflix’s powerhouse reality TV show Love Is Blind has several ways in which it could improve as a whole. The Love Is Blind season 6 Reunion episode will conclude this season, which started on February 14, 2024. This season, five couples came out of the pods engaged: Chelsea Blackwell and Jimmy Presnell, AD Smith and Clay Gravesande, Laura Dadisman and Jermaey Lutinski, Brittany Mills and Kenneth Gorham, and Amy Cortés and Johnny McIntyre. Despite leaving the pods engaged, only AD and Clay and Amy and Johnny made it to the altar.
Love triangles and quadrangles came between the couples this season, as did insecurities, communication breakdowns, and attraction loss. There were spicy confrontations, uncomfortable exchanges, and plain cringy interactions among the couples and in group settings when they all got together. Season 6 has had very high ratings among viewers, with many praising it as the best season yet, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t factors that could make the show even better.
8.The Love Is Blind Process Should Be Longer
Everything Happened In 38 Days
The Love Is Blind process (via Netflix) from the pods to the altar is only 38 days long, which equates to only 13 or 14 episodes. Were each part of the experiment extended a few days to a week, there would not only be more footage, drama, and connections to capture, but it would make the seasons longer. The decisions are rushed with a little more than a month timeline, and adding time onto the process could benefit the show.
7.Love Is Blind Should Replace The Hosts
Nick & Vanessa Lachey Have Always Hosted
Nick and Vanessa Lachey have become staples of the Love Is Blind franchise, but that might not be a good thing. They are also the hosts of Netflix’s The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, which means reality fans see a lot of these two. They don’t play a significant role in Love Is Blind until the Reunion, where they ask the hard questions and get the updated tea. However, a fresh couple, or a popular duo from seasons past, could enliven the hosting aspect of the show.
6.Love Is Blind Should Film More Group Gatherings
The Group Gatherings Are Always Messy
Love Is Blind could improve by adding more group gatherings to the participants’ itineraries both during the vacation part and after they enter back into the real world. The group gatherings are the only times the participants can come face to face with people they dated in the pods or had issues with. The occasions tend to produce a fair bit of drama, with the cast members airing their grievances and trying to showcase their love or ability to move on.
5.Love Is Blind Should Cast People Like Chelsea Blackwell
Chelsea Could Have Been Successful
While Chelsea is likely the most controversial cast member of Love Is Blind season 6 due to her unhinged gaslighting and rampant insecurities, she was entertaining to watch because she authentically wanted to find her person.
The good intentions were there with Chelsea, she was just a train wreck in a way that was highly entertaining for viewers to watch.
If Love Is Blind cast more people as desperate as Chelsea, there would be more entertainment value.
4.Love Is Blind Should Do Better Background Checks
Many Love Is Blind Cast Members Were Suspect
Love Is Blind has been mired in controversy due to several scandals. Carter Wall and Renee Poche were cut from season 5 despite making it to the altar amid Renee alleging Carter was a violent drug addict. Meanwhile it was rumored that Renee had a boyfriend during filming. Tran Deng of Love Is Blind season 5 sued the network over multiple claims of mistreatment and negligence. Other former cast members like season 2’s Jeremy Hartwell have accused the show of “inhumane working conditions” in a lawsuit he filed.
In Love Is Blind season 6 alone, Matt Duliba gave viewers creepy vibes and he ultimately left the show early. Trevor Sova has allegedly had a girlfriend the whole time during filming and Jermary Lutinski applied for the show while he was engaged.
The quality of the cast is something that greatly needs to be improved because it affecting the amount of successful couples and the Love Is Blind experience for many.
3.The Love Is Blind Cast Should Be Penalized For Talking About Appearance
The Whole Point Is To Conceal Your Appearance
The entire premise of Love Is Blind is to not let appearance get in the way of making genuine connections, and many Love Is Blind cast members did not get the memo, especially this season. Chelsea told Jimmy that she looked like Megan Fox in a now viral incident that seemed to have swayed Jimmy’s choice toward Chelsea only for him to call her a liar (via ET.) Clay was assertive in letting AD know how much he cared about appearance and how she would have to maintain her body in their relationship.
Furthermore, Brittany and Kenneth talked about race, and Jessica Vestal told Jimmy she was a smoke show upon their breakup.
There should be a motivation from the Love Is Blind for cast members to not spoil the experiment by talking about how they look.
Whether they get monetarily penalized like the network does when couples don’t make it down the aisle, or having another consequence for bringing looks into the experiment based on taking that out of the equation, something should be done to prevent the flop.
2.Love Is Blind Should Air More Pod Footage
There Is A Lot Fans Haven’t Seen
There is a lot of pod footage that never makes it to air. From all the participants that don’t get shown because they didn’t form love connections, to the love connection that grew that never aired (via Netflix,) fans are missing a lot of quality content. Love Is Blind should incorporate more of the pod footage into the first set of episodes. Making the episodes longer in order to incorporate more pod footage also wouldn’t be a bad thing since the show has become wildly popular.
1.The Love Is Blind Seasons Should Air Closer Together
Love Is Blind Fans Have To Wait A While Between Seasons
Love Is Blind could benefit from airing seasons closer together so that more fans stay interested and don’t get annoyed by the long delay between seasons. Season 5 finished airing in mid-October 2023 and season 6 started in mid-February, leaving viewers with a four-month gap. It’s apparent that Love Is Blind is producing a lot of viral moments that fans love and the show is attracting a larger audience, so having seasons debut closer together could maintain the show’s momentum.
