Meet the Bridgerton Season 3 Cast: New Characters, Returning Favorites

Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton
Luke Thompson reprises his role as the second brother, Benedict Bridgerton. Although his role was less well-known in season 2, Benedict explored his passion for art in season 1.

The third book in the series focused on Benedict’s love prospects, but the Bridgerton showrunners decided to save his story for another season and instead focus season 3 on the fourth book in the series, Romancing Mister Bridgerton.

Whether his story continues in season 3 remains to be seen, but there’s plenty more to come for the dashing Bridgerton artist.

“He’s very open to a lot of new experiences, but that can be a little paralyzing, because it means he doesn’t really know where he fits in,” Thompson told Country & Town House about his character in May 2024. “And that’s where we find Benedict this season – pushed a little further.”

Thompson has mostly found success on stage, starring in a number of stage plays including the role of Bailey in King Lear in 2018. As of May 2024, he is preparing for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Love’s Labour’s Lost.

Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton
Jonathan Bailey returns in season 3 as Anthony once again, stepping down from the role of the male lead. Anthony has come a long way since the show began, from Daphne’s overprotective brother to a man in love.

Now, Anthony is ready to start a family with Kate, and their romance continues to blossom.

Bailey’s career has taken off since Bridgerton. In 2023, he starred in Fellow Travelers alongside Matt Bomer, and he’ll play Fiyero in the film adaptation of Wicked alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. He’ll also appear in season 3 of Netflix’s romantic comedy series Hearstopper.

Simone Ashley as Kate Sharma
Simone Ashley’s Kate Sharma starred in season 2 of Bridgerton, where she won Anthony’s affections. The season was filled with drama, from Kate struggling to keep her love for Anthony while he courted her sister to their eventual wedding.

In season 3, Kate has a new goal: conceiving an heir. She and Anthony begin the season as happy newlyweds enjoying their vacation, and their romance only continues to grow based on a short Netflix teaser of the two enjoying a sweet dance.

Ashley is best known for her role in Netflix’s Sex Education, where she plays Olivia, Ruby’s chief assistant.

Sam Phillips as Lord Debling
Sam Phillips rounds out the roster of new characters in season 3, playing Lord Debling, a potential suitor who approaches Penelope early in the season. Although he has “unusual tastes,” according to his description on Deadline, “with wealth and a noble title to back up his eccentricities, he won’t be short of attention from young women this season.”

Prior to Bridgerton, Phillips appeared in multiple seasons of The Crown as the Queen’s Equerry. He has also starred in many plays in London including Much Ado About Nothing and The History Boys.
