Meet the cast of Virgin River season 5
Fans have loved getting to know the residents of quaint Northern California town Virgin River over the past few years, with more compelling human drama in store for the latest run of special holiday episodes.
Season 5 has been split into two parts, with two further holiday-themed entries arriving on Netflix this week on Thursday 30th November.
Many fans were most excited to learn more about who the father of Charmaine’s babies could be, after it was revealed she had been lying to Jack all along.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith said (via Entertainment Weekly): “In season 5, it’s such a great mystery. That’s what was so interesting when I watched it, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t believe it.’
“And I was like, ‘Well, what do I do with that? What’s the best way to use that big twist?’ But then also what the show does so well, which is carry mysteries for many seasons and questions and keep the audience guessing.
“So, I can’t say it will be in [season] 5, and I can’t say it won’t. But it’s definitely something that I would rather hold off on and not waste. Because it’s that good.”

Who is Jack Sheridan? Jack Sheridan is a former US marine who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder from his time in the military. These days, he spends his time managing the local bar in Virgin River. He recently became engaged to Melinda Monroe, although rumor has it their wedding will not be depicted in season 5, but saved for further down the line.
What else has Martin Henderson been in? Henderson had a main role in seasons 12-14 of the long-running US medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.
Who is Hope McCrea? Hope is the mayor of Virgin River. In season 3, she was involved in a car accident that left her with a serious brain injury, although viewers will be pleased to hear that she is walking the long road to recovery.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith was optimistic about her season 5 arc (via EW): “We still want to feel like she’s getting healthier and that she’s progressing and starting to reclaim the parts of her life that we haven’t seen in two seasons.
“She is still on the road to recovery. But we’re going to start to see the Hope that we know and love a lot more in season 5.”
What else has Annette O’Toole been in? Superman fans will be very familiar with Annette O’Toole as she played both Lana Lang in 1983’s Superman III and Clark Kent’s adoptive mother Martha in Smallville. She also had a main role in 1990’s adaptation of Stephen King’s IT and, more recently, appeared in the acclaimed drama series Halt and Catch Fire.
