Netflix’s Bridgerton star ‘replaces Sabrina Carpenter’ in upcoming film
Netflix’s Queen Charlotte star India Amarteifio is set to replace Sabrina Carpenter in a major upcoming film.
Amarteifio, who wowed audiences with her starring role in last year’s acclaimed Bridgerton prequel, is now taking on a new character on the big screen.
The 22-year-old has landed the role of Fiona in the highly anticipated coming-of-age film Into The Deep Blue, alongside Damian Hardung, who will play her best friend Nick.
Written by Jennifer Archer, an author honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with a 2022 Nicholl Fellowship, the film delves into the lives of two best friends grappling with loss.
Nick and Fiona, who have bonded through group therapy, face the challenge of rebuilding their lives. However, a weekend getaway stirs up unexpected emotions, complicating their journey as they face the possibility of falling in love.
Set to shoot in the UK, ‘Into The Deep Blue’ will be directed by Jonathan Wright, best known for ‘Awakening the Zodiac’. Child star and singer Sabrina Carpenter was originally linked to the project in November 2022, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Despite earlier reports, it appears that singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter has left the film. Deadline previously reported that Carpenter will play Fiona, “a young woman dealing with the loss of her mother, anxiety and a complicated relationship with her best friend, Nick, whom she meets during grief therapy.”
After opening for Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour earlier this year, the singer has now revealed plans for her own European tour in 2025.
Into The Deep Blue producer Aletha Shepherd expressed her excitement about the project’s progress, saying: “We are thrilled to have assembled such an incredible cast for this remarkable script.
“It’s been a joy to work with such talent, especially when we know we have something truly special on our hands. We’re thrilled to have found the right home and partners to ensure this film gets the success it deserves.”
A release date for Into The Deep Blue has yet to be confirmed.
