Tracker Season 2 Gets Exciting Update After First Season’s Success
CBS’s breakout hit, Tracker, led by Justin Hartley, is gearing up for its highly anticipated second season. Following a stellar debut as the most-watched show on television for the 2023-2024 season, the series quickly became an undisputed success.
Given its remarkable performance, CBS promptly renewed Tracker for a second season. Fans of the procedural drama, which features Hartley as Colter Shaw, a self-proclaimed rewardist, can look forward to its return this fall. While CBS has not yet announced the official premiere date, a new listing from Creative BC confirms that production for Season 2 will commence on July 16 and continue until April 22, 2025.
CBS has unveiled a promo image revealing a first official look at Jensen Ackles in his next TV series role.
The second season of Tracker is expected to include more episodes as the TV schedule returns to its usual format. Season 1, spanning 13 episodes, delved into Colter’s complex personality, his strained family relationships, and his interactions with private citizens and law enforcement, all while unraveling various mysteries. Based on Jeffery Deaver’s 2019 novel The Never Game, Tracker follows Colter Shaw as he traverses the country solving mysteries and searching for missing persons for substantial rewards. The overarching plot centers on Colter’s quest to solve the mystery of his father’s death, a storyline that significantly shaped the first season’s narrative.
In addition to Hartley’s compelling performance, the show features a talented supporting cast, including Robin Weigert as Teddi, Abby McEnany as Velma, Eric Graise as skilled hacker Bobby, and Fiona Rene as attorney Reenie. Together, they form the backbone of Colter’s team, aiding him in his quest to help others while he grapples with his own unresolved family tragedy.
With CBS’ Tracker’s first season coming to an end, there are a few similar shows that can fill the hole until the already confirmed second season.
What To Expect In Tracker Season 2
As viewers anticipate Colter’s return, the season 1 finale has set the stage for deeper exploration into the death of Colter’s father, Ashton Shaw. With his elder brother, Ackles’ Russell, initially suspected but later exonerated, the upcoming season promises to delve further into the Shaw family’s hidden secrets and unresolved pain.
By mid-May, Tracker had established itself as the top network television series, drawing an impressive 10.8 million weekly viewers. Tracker is a one-hour procedural drama that delivers a satisfying conclusion with each episode, resonating well with CBS’s traditional TV audience. Unlike the network’s other ensemble-driven dramas, Tracker stands out with its distinct feel, largely thanks to Justin Hartley’s enduring on-screen presence. Hartley’s charismatic appeal provides the writers with creative freedom in shaping his character. While Shaw is a hero, he operates with a flexible moral code and isn’t shy about seeking his reward payment.
