Nicolas Cage Asked His Uncle for A Role In The Godfather 3
Actor Nicolas Cage has told a story about his failed attempt to get a role in The Godfather: Part III. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Cage revealed that he had approached his uncle, renowned Oscar-winning director, Francis Ford Coppola, about taking a part in the 1990 gangster drama. Released in 1990, The Godfather: Part III is the final installment in the Godfather trilogy, starring Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Andy Garcia, Bridget Fonda, and Sofia Coppola.
Many Fans Think The Godfather Part 3 was a Disappointment
The Godfather Part III is the final installment in Francis Ford Coppola’s trilogy, but it was not as well-received as the other two. The Godfather and The Godfather Part II are considered among the greatest movies of all time.
Instead of serving as the ideal wrap-up to the trilogy as it was intended, the third movie felt like an ugly scar on a beautiful face. Its objective was to complete the Michael Corleone narrative that started in the first film.
It seemed as though Coppola had never intended to make the movie and his heart just wasn’t in it. Viewers of the first Godfather movie felt that they were a part of the story and could relate to the characters. The third movie, on the other hand, had the feel of substandard fan fiction.
