One of Netflix’s Biggest Shows VIRGIN RIVER Starts Filming Season 6 This February in BC
One of Netflix’s biggest shows Virgin River will be filming its new season this Winter and Spring in British Columbia. — from Squamish to Vancouver to the Fraser Valley.
Update: Season 6 of the popular Netflix romance starring Alexandra Breckinridge and Martin Henderson starts shooting on February 21st via the DGC-BC Production List.
Based on the novels by Robyn Carr, Virgin River follows Melinda “Mel” Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse and midwife who moves to the small California town from Los Angeles after her husband Mark dies. There she falls for restaurant/bar owner and former marine Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).
How long will Virgin River last?
It’s beautiful in Vancouver. I love filming there. I love the cast; I love our crew. Over the years, you really do become like a family when you’re working with such lovely people. So obviously, I wouldn’t want to give that up, but there is always an ending point, right? And I do look forward to working on other things in the future — Alexandra Breckinridge to TV Insider
We met Mel’s biological Dad in the Christmas specials.
In the season five finale titled Father Christmas, Mel and Jack tracked down her father Everett Reid (John Allen Nelson) to a remote cabin in the woods. But he sent her away, saying he’s not the man she’s looking for.
Then on Christmas Day, he showed up unannounced at Mel’s cabin in the woods to say “You look so much like your mom. Seeing you just broke my heart all over again. I didn’t know what to say. . . I am your father. And I’m here now.”
Season 5 ends with an Everett cliffhanger: “I’ve got something important I need to tell you.”
It’s “definitely a bit of a bombshell [and it’s] something that informs a lot of what’s happening in Season 6.” — showrunner Patrick Sean Smith to Decider.
