Following a history-making haul at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris, Simone Biles is seeking to capitalize even further on her fame — but the superstar gymnast appears to be going it alone more often than not.
That’s because Biles’ husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens, is living the transient life of an NFL player, never staying in one place too long amid the inimitable grind of NFL travel and game prep. With Biles traveling around the country as part of her Gold Over America tour, it has proven difficult for the couple to spend together, which ordinarily prompts strain in a marriage.
Biles reveals creative approach to long-distance relationship
Fortunately for Biles, the creativity she displays in her Olympic gymnastic routines extends into her marriage with Owens. The couple tied the knot in April 2023, and both are putting in the effort despite their very busy schedules.
“It’s nice that we get to go out and support one another,” Biles told Us Weekly, revealing one way the couple stays strong and united across the miles — something Owens proved when he cheered on Biles in person, in Paris, while she claimed gold medal after gold medal.
Biles and Owens are living separate but linked lives, even as Biles embarks on her 32-date tour with fellow US gymnastics stars like Jordan Chiles and Hezly Rivera. But they can’t spend quality time together at the moment, with Biles admitting to Us Weekly that this is the hardest part of maintaining a long-distance relationship.
Fortunately, Biles and Owens are planning to reunite this coming weekend, when 11-time Olympic medallist Biles takes the Gold Over America Tour to Chicago — where the Bears will host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. And the tour ends Nov. 3 — just in time for what many in Chicago hope is a Bears playoff push under rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.
“I’m going to go to the game, I’m going to go see them and then they’ll come to the show in the afternoon,” Biles said, again demonstrating the unique level of reciprocation that is making their marriage work.
