‘Steel Magnolias’ Is Returning to Theaters for 30th Anniversary
The film will return to select theaters in May, three decades after its debutThe legendary Southern sisterhood is returning to the big screen.
30 years after its debut, Steel Magnolias will be returning to limited theaters this May — and with it comes the return of the infamous all-star cast: Dolly Parton, Julia Roberts, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah and Olympia Dukakis.
The film will be returning to select theaters on May 19, 21, and 22 at 4 p.m and 7 p.m, local time.
Steel Magnolias, based on the 1987 play of the same name, explores the relationships and sisterhood of a group of women in a small Southern community.Roberts won Best Supporting Actress at the 47th Golden Globe Awards for her role as Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie.
The return of the 1989 comedy-drama marks yet another addition to the growing list of classic films returning to theaters. Earlier this week it was announced Gone with the Wind is heading back to the big screen for its 80th anniversary.
