The Bridgerton Season 3 Release Date Is Almost Here, So Here’s All The Behind-The-Scenes Tea

We are slowly yet surely creeping towards Bridgerton Season Three and my loins are quivering in anticipation. And — thanks to Netflix being an absolute tease — we now not only have a spicy little clip between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) to keep us wanting more until the official launch, but a full three minute trailer, and a snippet of the Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) in marital bliss.
Does this array of perfect teaser videos look like fan service? Yes, but I’m not complaining. In fact, perhaps the tea about the season’s plot could be true and that’s why we’re being fed such treats.

When is the Bridgerton Season 3 release date?

The long-awaited Bridgerton Season Three will be arriving to screens in two parts. Part one premieres on May 16, 2024 followed by part two on June 13, 2024.

I’m in two minds about the whole two-part seasons thing. On one hand, it makes the sexy regency goodness last longer but on the other, I’m a baby who likes to binge.

Check out the date announcement video featuring our sweet Lady Whistledown herself.

But, to its credit, the scene is satisfying AF to watch. Peep it below (if you don’t want to save their confrontation for when you watch the show):

Where to watch Bridgerton Season 3?
Because it is an exclusive series, Bridgerton Season Three will only be available to watch on Netflix!

So if you’re trying to see where things go in the third season for the Bon Ton, you better create an account or starting living with someone who does. This must be how Penelope feels, constantly searching for the one (who pays for a Netflix account).

Is there a trailer for Bridgerton Season 3?
After oh-so-long kept on the hook, waiting for a trailer for Bridgerton Season Three, on April 11 the Netflix gods bestowed us with the object our heart and minds had desired for so long… which could be on theme with the season’s plot.

Throughout the trailer we see how the main focus of Season Three will be on Colin and Penelope, as the latter tries to move on from the former and find herself a new boo.

However, things take a turn when her new wingman is none other than Colin B, who (if the subtext of the trailer can be believed) is starting to get it down bad for Ms Featherington??? Colin, please, make up your mind.

Through the trailer, splash screens show up that say “Even a wallflower can bloom,” hinting at the idea we are going to see the full glow up/metamorphosis of one or more characters, as they reach their full Bridgerton-ian potential. Love to see it,

Prior to the trailer we were given not one, but three sneak peeks of scenes from the show! Some of which have certainly raised eyebrows.

The most recent snippet is one Netflix released on 21 March. In it, we see Anthony and — wait, who is this woman who I have never laid eyes on before??

Oh wait, that’s just Francesca Bridgerton, who you may not recognise for two reasons: 1) so far, she’s played an extremely minor part in the show and has had zero plot relevance and 2) THAT’S NOT HER. Ruby Stokes, who originally played Fran, left the role after Season 2 to pursue a lead role in a different show, and so she’s been replaced by newcomer Hannah Dodd.

Anyway, we see Francesca, who appears quite distressed, ask Anthony for a moment alone — and he dismisses her and instead chooses to dance with his wife Kate. Can I be mad? No, because Kate is perfect and I, too, would forget every thought in my brain if I she ever looked at me like that. Also, she is wearing a dupatta! The nods to her South Asian background in this show are *chef’s kiss*.

On Valentine’s Day, Netflix graced us with another teaser. In it we see our queen Penelope absolutely rip into her dear Colin for the nasty comments he made about her in Season Two. I am honestly so surprised this scene was revealed so early, because it’s one of the key moments fans have been waiting for.

Like, is this not one of the sole reasons we are looking forward to Season Three? To see Penelope drag Colin for his bullshit? Why hand it to us so soon, on a silver platter? It’s borderline spoiler territory!

Earlier this year, Netflix also shared a very…uh… awkward moment absolutely full to the brim with sexual tension between Penelope and Colin.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall in this fictional scenario. Or maybe I wouldn’t. It’s a bit cringe-inducing.

You can check it out below.

Who will Bridgerton Season 3 be about?
As we already know, Bridgerton Season Three will focus on the love story between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, so we know Luke Newtown and Nicola Coughlan will soon be on our screens. Lady Whistledown redemption arc, let’s go!

However, recent tea was spilled about the plot and it looks like Netflix will throw a spanner into the works in the form of a second love interest for Penelope — so we have a love triangle! Honestly, two hotties fighting over her? It’s what she deserves.

Nicola Coughlin told a Valentine’s Day panel hosted by Netflix that Season Three will open with Penelope on a mission.

“She’s decided she’s going to find a house when she heads back to the town,” Coughlan explained.

“She’s like, ‘I gotta get away from the Featheringtons, I’m out of here. I’m going to find a husband.’”

Colin then offers to help Penelope find a husband, and in an endearingly oblivious fashion, she’s like ‘sure thing!’.

“She’s like, ‘Fine, I don’t love you at all. This will work out great with no problems.’ So she finds some suitors, some more successful than others. But one is very, very fond of her,” Coughlan cheekily revealed.

When asked on the Tudum red carpet last year about what we can expect to see from Penelope Featherington in Season Three, Coughlan said she “grows up a lot”.

“She becomes a woman. She has to step into her light and it’s difficult, it’s not so easy doing that.

“Colin Bridgerton is grown up, as well. I think we see them in a way we’ve never ever seen them before. So I’m very excited to share that with the fans.”

A woman? Stepping into her light? In a way we’ve never seen before? I demand it right this second.

Season Three is sure to be sensationally scandalous, if the Season Two finale was anything to go by. To jog thine memories, Penelope overheard Colin telling some chaps that he wouldn’t dare think of courting her. Then the chamberpot hit the fan when Penelope’s best friend Eloise (Claudia Jessie) discovered she was, in fact, Lady Whistledown.

But our Penelope is a fighter, she is. During last year’s Tudum, Coughlan read out the first page of the Bridgerton Season Three script, which is a very iconic narration from Lady Whistledown.

“Dearest gentle reader, we have been apart for far too long. At last, London’s smart set has made its return,” she said.

“And so too has this author. As the season begins, the question on everyone’s mind is, of course, which newly minted debutante will shine the brightest?”

We cannot wait to find out which young lass will paint the ‘Ton red.
