The Office Cast’s Latest Reunion Emulates The Show’s Best Episode In New Ad

The Office cast’s latest reunion in a new ad emulates one of the show’s best episodes. Aired from 2005 to 2013, the beloved mockumentary sitcom followed the everyday work lives of employees at the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Though Steve Carell’s regional manager Michael Scott was the lead before leaving after season 7, the cast also included Rainn Wilson as Dwight Schrute, Jenna Fischer as Pam Beesly, Brian Baumgartner as Kevin Malone, Kate Flannery as Meredith Palmer, Craig Robinson as Darryl Philbin, and Creed Bratton as himself.

Now, The Office cast has reunited for a new AT&T ad that emulates one of the best and most chaotic moments from the beloved mockumentary sitcom. Watch the full ad below:

The six-minute ad imagines Rainn Wilson launching a business called “Sleep with Rain” with other Office cast members Jenna Fischer, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Craig Robinson, and Creed Bratton. Though their goal is to help the world sleep a little better, the commercial features a chaotic moment with the cast trying to open a door, which is similar to The Office‘s fire drill cold open from season 5’s two-part episode, “Stress Relief.”

Will The Original Office Cast Return For The Reboot?

Though The Office ended in 2013, there is still massive interest in seeing the cast reunite, evidenced by the new AT&T ad. There is also The Office reboot from original showrunner Greg Daniels in development. The project recently took a major step forward when Daniels teamed up with Nathan for You co-creator Michael Koman to help him develop it. The reboot will be set in the same universe, so the original cast can always return for cameos, though it is expected to follow a completely new office with new characters.

Though the original cast isn’t expected to return for the reboot, there are several other possibilities that could bring them back together. Bryan Cranston, who directed season 9, episode 4, “Work Bus,” pitched an idea for a revival movie featuring the original cast, which was met with support from Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey. The cast also frequently reunites for side projects, such as the new AT&T ad.

There are also more de facto Office reunions on the horizon. John Krasinksi wrote and directed the live-action/animation hybrid movie, IF, which features Steve Carell as the voice of a purple furry imaginary friend among its ensemble cast. For an IF trailer, Krasinksi even revived the “Asian Jim” prank from The Office season 9, episode 3 by having Randall Park replace him. Whether it be for commercials, reboots, or other reunions, the spirit of The Office is alive and will continue to thrive for the foreseeable future.
