After The Office star Jenna Fischer shared her battle with cancer, her costars shared their support online. Fischer played the beloved character, Pam Beesly, who was Dunder Mifflin’s receptionist and Jim Halpert’s (John Krasinski) love interest. She recently took to Instagram to share her battle with cancer. In her post, she explained that on December 1, 2023, she was diagnosed with Stage 1 Triple Positive Breast Cancer, an aggressive form of breast cancer that’s thankfully receptive to treatment. After a lumpectomy, chemotherapy, and unwavering support from her friends and family, Fischer is now cancer-free.
It didn’t take long for familiar faces to show up and share their support for Fischer. Several The Office costars commented on her post to share their support. Ellie Kemper (who played Erin in the series) expressed her love for Fischer and thanked her for sharing her story and inspiration. Similar support was sent from costar Angela Kinsey, who said, “I got your back, always.” Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor) commented with a simple heart emoji. Check out the post and its comments below:
The Office Cast Are Still Close Even After The Show Ended 11 Years Ago
Fischer Is Cohosting A Podcast With Kinsey
This display of love and support from The Office cast members suggests that they still share a lot of affection for each other, even after the series ended in 2013. There have been numerous occasions where stars reunited, sparking interest in spinoffs or a continuation of the series. While the original cast is not involved in any such projects, an upcoming series, called The Paper, set in the same universe is currently in the works without any confirmation of the original cast members returning. Nevertheless, they still seem to be in touch.
For a long time, Kinsey was one of the only few people in the workplace who knew about Fischer’s diagnosis, and she handled the role delicately, advocating for Fischer and protecting her.
In Fischer’s post, she talked about the love and support she received from Kinsey. The two actors co-host a comedy podcast Office Ladies. Because the two are in constant proximity, it isn’t surprising that Kinsey played a special role in Fischer’s battle with cancer. For a long time, Kinsey was one of the few people who knew about Fischer’s diagnosis, and she handled the role delicately, advocating for Fischer and protecting her. When Fischer lost her hair, Kinsey even wore hats at work meetings, so her co-host wouldn’t feel alone.
Our Take On The Love And Support From The Office Costars
Kinsey & Fischer’s Friendship Is Stark Contrast To Their Characters
It’s heartwarming to see that the cast members of The Office still express their support for each other a decade after the series finale. While some may be disappointed that The Office isn’t getting a continuation, it should be pleasing that they still have each other’s backs. I’m especially impressed by Kinsey’s support for Fischer. The two played characters who commonly shared discord throughout the show. With their podcast and Kinsey’s support throughout Fischer’s battle with cancer, it’s obvious that that enmity was only part of The Office and not real life.
