‘Tracker’ Casts Jensen Ackles in Justin Hartley Series – Air Date & Plot Revealed, Plus First Photo
UPDATED with air date and episode synopsis: Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw has found his brother. Hartley announced Thursday in an Instagram video (see below) that Jensen Ackles has been cast as Colter’s estranged brother Russell in the CBS series Tracker.
The network revealed Friday that Ackles’ character will be introduced in the season’s penultimate episode “Off The Books” on Sunday, May 12. CBS also released a first photo of the brothers above.
According to the CBS synopsis: “Colter is forced to team up with his estranged brother, Russell, who enlists his help to track down an old military buddy who has gone missing after weeks of paranoid behavior. The investigation takes the brothers into a world of Special Forces missions, shady off-the-books programs, and conspiracy theories, all while they wrestle with their family’s past.”
The highly rated series was renewed early for Season 2 just weeks after Season 1 premiered.
Tracker, based on Jeffery Deaver’s best-selling novel The Never Game, stars Hartley as Colter Shaw, a lone survivor who roams the country in search of a reward, using his expert tracking skills to help citizens and law enforcement solve all sorts of mysteries while struggling with his own broken family.
The series also stars Fiona Rene, Robin Weigert, Abby McEnany, and Eric Graise.
Tracker is produced by 20th Television. Hartley, Ken Olin, Elwood Reid, and Ben Winters serve as executive producers.
Ackles is best known for his role as Dean Winchester on The CW’s Supernatural, a role he reprised in the Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters. His other recent roles include Sheriff Beau Arlen on Big Sky, Soldier Boy on The Boys, and a guest appearance on Gen V.
