The show debuted after Super Bowl LVIII and was an instant success, marking the network’s most-watched series since Young Sheldon debuted in 2017. According to Nielsen, Tracker has been the No. 1 show on cable since its debut, drawing 16 million viewers across multiple platforms.
Headed by Justin Hartley, Tracker tells the story of Colter Shaw, a survivalist and tracker who helps law enforcement track people down in exchange for monetary rewards. The show is based on the novel The Never Game by producer Jeffery Deaver.
From the premiere date to the cast, here’s everything you need to know about Tracker season 2.
When will Tracker season 2 premiere?
CBS has yet to announce a Tracker season 2 premiere date, but the network has confirmed that the show will return in the 2024-25 season.
The show was long planned, with the first episode arriving on CBS in November 2022. However, Reisenbach told Deadline in January 2024 that she opted to delay the show’s debut to the 2023-24 season to allow for more time to promote it.
“It was a great first episode, and we said, okay, we’re not going to air it this season,” she told the outlet. “Maybe in previous years, we would have said, okay, we have the first episode in November, let’s air it in the spring. We said, let’s save it for next season.”
Who’s in the cast of Tracker season 2?
Hartley will reprise his role as Colter in Tracker season 2. He’ll be joined by Manifest actress Melissa Roxburgh, who plays Colter’s sister, Dory, and Supernatural star Jensen Ackles, who plays Colter’s estranged brother, Russell Shaw.
How can I watch and stream Tracker?
Tracker season 1 can be streamed on Paramount+. Individual episodes and the full season are also available for purchase on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.
Season 2 will likely follow, with new episodes airing weekly on CBS and available to stream on Paramount+.
What has Justin Hartley said about Tracker?
Hartley not only stars in the show, but he’s also an executive producer—which means he gets to make some decisions about what to keep in the show from the book.
“I think the fact that Colter doesn’t have a girlfriend is one of the things I wanted to keep,” the This Is Us actor told PEOPLE magazine in February 2024. “I felt like if he had a wife and a girlfriend and a family, and he was still doing these dangerous things, it would be selfish.”
After the show was renewed, Hartley went on Live with Kelly and Mark in April 2024 to discuss how Tracker was his “labor of love.”
“When This Is Us ended, our executive producer, Ken Olin, came to me and said, ‘I really want to continue working with you,’ and I said, ‘Me too,’ ” he explained.
Hartley continued, “So we found this book, The Never Game, written by Jeffery Deaver, and took the character of Colter Shaw and developed it into a television series.”
