CBS’ action drama series Tracker, featuring Justin Hartley as the survivalist Colter Shaw, emerged as one of the most popular shows on network television following its debut on February 11, 2024. The success of the first season led to CBS greenlighting the sophomore season even before the first one finished airing. However, it was revealed in August 2024 that Robin Weigert, who portrays Teddi Bruin, would not return in Season 2. And now, Hartley has addressed the concerns about how the show is going to deal with Teddi’s absence.
Justin Hartley reveals how Tracker Season 2 will handle Teddi Bruin’s absence
In a recent interview, Hartley revealed how Tracker would handle the absence of one of the main characters from the first season. The series is an adaption of The Never Game, a 2019 novel by Jeffery Deaver.
When TV Insider asked Hartley about where the story would go forward following Teddi Bruin’s exit, Hartley shared that Velma, Teddi’s wife, will be shown collaborating with Reenie more in Season 2.
“At the end of last season, Reenie decides that she’s leaving her firm and going to go it on her own,” Hartley said. “She’s got that big life change and, in a way, she teams up with Velma and you’ll see a lot of the two of them working together, which is a really interesting dynamic. They both have common goals with just some completely different ways of going about their business. Bobby, our computer whiz, is hacking away. Then we have a couple of really cool surprises coming for Reenie,” he added.
Hartley’s comment supports what showrunner Elwood Reid said to TVLine about Velma’s role in Season 2 in July 2024. “You’re going to see that Velma is taking on a very interesting role with something that was hinted at with Reenie’s character in the final couple episodes [of the first season],” Reid had revealed at the time.
