Twilight TV Adaptation Takes Shape as an Animated Series

The planned Twilight TV adaptation is moving forward as an animated series to be shopped around by Lionsgate Television.

Lionsgate’s vice chairman, Michael Burns, shared an update on the Twilight TV adaptation during a recent Morgan Stanley media conference, revealing, per Variety, that it will not be a live-action project. “We’re going to go out with the Twilight series, an animated series,” he said. “I think there’ll be a lot of interest in that.”

News of a Twilight series first came to light in April 2023, with reports signaling the show was in early development at Lionsgate Television. Many people may have assumed that the project would be a live-action show, but the series would instead put an animated spin on Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling Twilight book saga.

The core Twilight series spanned four novels published between 2005 and 2008 before being adapted into a film franchise starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Five Twilight movies were released from 2008 to 2021, with the big screen adaptation of the final book, Breaking Dawn, split into two parts.

The story of Bella Swan and her bloodsucking boyfriend proved grossly popular with audiences since the films collectively over $3 billion at the global box office. The saga has experienced a resurgence in the past few years (dubbed by some as the Twilight Renaissance) as people have found the vampire romance again.

The renewed interest in Twilight led to LEGO announcing a brick-built replica of the Cullen House, giving fans something to sink their teeth into in the future.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is the first chapter of the highly anticipated fourth installment of The Twilight Saga, directed by Academy Award winner Bill Condon, revealing the mysteries of this romantic epic that has entranced millions.

In The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson), plus those they love, must deal with the chain of consequences brought on by a marriage, honeymoon, and the tumultuous birth of a child …which brings an unforeseen and shocking development for Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner).

With more of the romance, passion, intrigue and action that made Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse worldwide blockbusters, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, based on Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling book series, begins the conclusion of the tale of vampire love, boundless friendship, acceptance, and finding your true self.
