As a new series of Virgin River is somewhere on the horizon, Jack (Martin Henderson) has passed a great deal to finally end up in a healthy relationship with Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge).
With Season 6 looming, sources have stated that Jack’s attention is now likely to focus on his journey to parenthood after Mel suffered a preliminary in earlier episodes.
Before all that, Jack nearly lost his life in a dramatic shooting – but who shot in him Virgin River Season 2? Here’s what you need to know.
Who shot Jack in Virgin River?
Jack was originally shot during the final episodes of the second season, leading to Brady (Ben Hollingsworth) being arrested for it during Season 3. The real answer isn’t revealed until the Season 4 finale, where fans finally get a glimpse at the scenes that led up to Jack’s shooting.
Vince ends up at Jack’s bar while looking for his twin brother Wes (also Steve Bacic), with Vince’s presence quickly escalating into a fight between them. Both survive, but each takes a fairly brutal fatality during the scrap – with Jack knifing Vince and Vince shooting Jack.
Vince then goes on to terrorize Paige (Lexa Doig), leading Preacher (Colin Lawrence) to get involved, which you can read more about here.
In hindsight, this is a sequence of events that has been picked apart by Virgin River fans.
“Another mess up by the writer – In ONE scene we see him lying on the floor, shot. They then cut to a new episode, Jack is in the ER and flatlines…… That is all we get — Mel and Doc and Preacher and millions of others would have OR should have been shown in the hospital scene. They spent so much time on Hope after the accident and even Brady when he got knifed in prison. But the main character???? I would really like to have a little more context on that!!!” one Redditor posted.
“I don’t think it was a “mess up” by the writers. I remember reading something about how they intentionally didn’t want to spend too much time on it bc it was during COVID-19 and didn’t want it to be all doom and gloom during some gloom and doom times,” another disagreed.
