Treat Williams died after a motorcycle accident near his home in Vermont, according to CNN. The 71-year-old actor had memorable roles in Hair, The Late Show, Chicago Fire, Everwood, and Chesapeake Shores, among dozens of others.
The Emmy nominee also played the recurring role of Lenny Ross, former partner and longtime friend of Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), on the CBS drama Blue Bloods.
Blue Bloods star Vanessa Ray, who portrays Eddie Janko-Reagan, paid tribute to Treat on Instagram with a sweet story.
She shared a photo of the news and wrote, “This is heartbreaking. The first time I worked with Treat on @bluebloods_cbs at family dinner, he found out I was in Hair on Broadway. I said I was the ‘Frank Mills’ girl. He started singing. He knew every word. What an incredibly sharp, kind, beautiful artist now.
Over the years, Treat shared several photos from set on Twitter, including this picture from 2021 showing him arm-in-arm with Tom Selleck. Treat wrote, “Thanks Tom Selleck and #Bluebloods always a pleasure. Two old pros.”
He shared a similar photo in 2015 after what was likely his first appearance on the CBS drama. At the time, Treat tweeted, “Great fun to work with Tom Selleck. What a nice guy.”
Our condoles go out to Treat’s family.
