During a chat with fans in July, the actor tactfully addressed reports that an expanded Blue Bloods franchise is in the works with CBS. While he said he “didn’t know anything official,” there were “things in the works” and he sounded excited.

Blue Bloods wrapped filming in July, and the final episodes (Season 14, Part 2) will air on Fridays from October to December on CBS. Speaking from the stage of the New Kids on the Block concert, Wahlberg answered questions from fans, including one about Blue Bloods (see video below).

When a fan asked about the final season, Wahlberg replied, “Yeah, we’ve finished filming the final season of Blue Bloods, and it’s going to air starting in October. There might be something else then. That’s something I don’t know officially, but there are second things that are going to be done so, maybe something great will happen.”
This got the crowd cheering, and then Wahlberg added, “You guys know I’m going to do everything after Blue Bloods no matter what.”

What to Expect When ‘Blue Bloods’ Returns for a Final Season Related What to Expect When ‘Blue Bloods’ Returns for a Final Season Wahlberg gave a passionate speech on the last day of filming on the show Continued Police, in which he expressed disbelief that the show was actually over. After the COVID-19 pandemic left the show’s future uncertain and the series still alive, Wahlberg said it was hard for him to accept that they were actually coming to an end.

“Four years ago, we were in this room and none of us knew if we were ever going to see each other again for reasons that would be much worse. It was probably one of the last days of my life, and I’m sure it was in the lives of many of you,” he said in the video below. “We didn’t know what was going to happen in this world, and somehow we got a few more years together and God will give us more time together to do that any time again. I would be honored to work with any of you again and I pray that it could happen, one way or another, I will not give up trying. Let’s have a great night, we deserve it.”

He praised co-star Tom Selleck, saying he was a great leader for the cast throughout season 14. Wahlberg seems hopeful that he can continue playing Danny Reagan in the future. Does this mean he would be interested in playing a lead role in a potential spin-off?
