“All I know is I want everyone to be on ‘ALF.’ But as ALF,” Sweetin joked on the ‘How Rude, Tanneritos!’ podcast
Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber have entered the multiverse of madness!
On the most recent episode of their podcast How Rude, Tanneritos!, the hosts answered one of life’s great questions: What would some of the biggest sitcoms of the ’80s and ’90s look like if they starred the characters from Full House? Sweetin and Barber spent the half-hour “minisode” swapping characters from shows like Friends, Home Improvement, Seinfeld and Saved By the Bell with the Tanner family members — including Barber’s Kimmy Gibbler and a couple recurring characters — they felt best fit the roles.
“All I know is I want everyone to be on Alf,” Sweetin, 42, joked. “But as A.L.F.”
The duo ran into difficulties at the outset, as Sweetin admitted she’s never seen Friends. “I just didn’t see myself in it,” she offered as an excuse. “I didn’t see Steph reflected.”
Barber, 48, noted that the two shows’ casts already overlap in Marla Sokoloff, who played both Stephanie’s friend Gia in Full House’s latter seasons and Joey Tribbiani’s sister on Friends. While you would think, as Sweetin initially did, that Bob Saget’s Danny would be a shoe-in for “neurotic” and “super-clean” Monica, Barber insisted that “She’s the D.J.”
“Phoebe is the Kimmy because she’s the wackadoo,” Barber continued. “She’s just on her own planet. So that’s easy.”
“But always oddly, like, the voice of reason, right?” Sweetin agreed. “Like, she would be the one that would say something, and you’re like, ‘Wait. That actually makes sense.’ ”
Stumped as to where to slot the Full House men into Friends, the hosts moved on to Saved By the Bell.
“Kimmy would be the Screech for sure,” Barber said of her character. “And I might actually put Danny as Mr. Belding. Like, that seems like he would be you know, he’s a little nerdy, but, you know, the kids don’t totally respect him, but he’s like a father figure.”“I feel like Slater wants to be Jesse,” Sweetin said.
“But he’s not Uncle Jesse. Sorry, Slater,” Barber disagreed.
“I would argue that Mario Lopez has been as much of a teen heartthrob as John [Stamos],” Sweetin countered.
“We can just throw Gia in there ‘cause she’s just in high school with a fake ID,” Sweetin joked. “She’s actually the one that gave Jessie [Elizabeth Berkley] the idea for the caffeine pills,” she added, referring to the Saved By the Bell’s infamous very-special-episode.
Despite being close with Boy Meets World’s cast, however, Sweetin and Barber could only come up with one character swap for the show: “You know who’s Mr. Feeny?” Sweetin said. “Michelle. Everyone seems to go to her for advice. Every adult in the house seems to go to her for career advice, relationship advice, like, they’re having a crisis. Everyone’s like ‘Michelle, we need to talk…’ So, I think Michelle is Mr. Feeny.”The pair went on to imagine Kimmy as Kramer on Seinfeld, Joey and Danny as Bert and Ernie on Sesame Street and Kimmy and D.J. in the roles of Blossom and Six in Blossom. “Everyone mistakes me for Six,” Barber noted.
For Home Improvement, they settled on an unholy combo of Full House’s Joey and Jesse as Tim Allen’s Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor. But when it came to Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Sweetin and Barber were stumped again.

“All I know about Sabrina is there’s a cat that talks and there’s magic,” Barber said. “And there’s no magic in Full House and there’s no cat. So, I think this doesn’t really apply.”
“Uh, there is magic in Full House: the backyard,” Sweetin argued, referencing their long-running joke about the ever-shifting dimensions of their show’s set. “The backyard is the talking cat of our show, basically. It’s the most absurd and unlikely thing.”
