A Snoop Dogg + royals video collaboration is something I didn’t have on my 2024 bingo card; and yet, here we are.
Earlier this week, Kate Middleton, 42, and Prince William, 42, broke their summer break silence and shared a special video message on their joint Instagram page, congratulating Team Great Britain on their performance during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The clip starts with an unexpected appearance from Snoop Dogg, who opens the video message by saying “Greetings, loved ones” to viewers. (FYI, the rapper and record producer served as a torchbearer during the Olympics opening ceremony and worked as an NBC Olympics Correspondent during the Games. NBD.)
Then, the Prince and Princess of Wales take a moment to show their support for Team GB. “From all of us watching at home, congratulations to Team GB!” Princess Catherine says in the clip. Then, Prince William (who is sporting a…beard?!) goes on to add, “Well done on all you’ve achieved. You’ve been an inspiration to us all.”
Other star cameos included Greg James, Rebecca Adlington, Sir Chris Hoy and David Beckham, who shared some words of encouragement and thanked Great Britain’s athletes for all of their hard work.
In the comments section, royal fans reacted to Snoop Dogg’s surprise cameo in the vid, with one person writing, “@snoopdogg x @princeandprincessofwales is the combo I didn’t know I needed!” Another person said, “Snoop Dogg x Kensington Palace is the crossover we never knew we needed.” And this comment is my personal fave: “Snoop of Wales.”
Speaking of Snoop’s video appearance, the Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party star stopped by the U.K.’s radio show Capital FM with DJ Jordan North back in July.
Not only did the California native reveal that the future monarch is a “huge Snoop fan,” but the 52-year-old also said the late Queen Elizabeth was, in fact, one too. “Well, the queen was a fan too. Rest in peace to the queen, that was my girl. You know what I’m saying?” Snoop shared.
